NEXT Biometrics Group ASAannounced it received 5 orders during May for its new generation of fingerprint sensor modules from companies in the US, Asia and Europe have in the course of May, 2015 placed orders for NEXT sensors to be integrated in a range of traditional and new market formats.
NEXT, the leader in high-quality low-cost fingerprint sensors, said, the customers have ordered SDK’s (Software Development Kit) and fingerprint sensors in modest volumes as part of their product development process. Each of the 5 customers have requirements for large, high performance sensors and all target launch in the second half of 2015 or the first half of 2016 (H2-15 or H1-16).
Tore Etholm-Idsøe, CEO of NEXT Biometrics said: “Having expanded our offering from 1 to 6 fingerprint sensor modules, NEXT Biometrics now meets the markets demand for various interfaces, colors and physical dimensions. All of the 5 customers have made it clear that they need NEXT’s unique combination of quality sensor size at a very low price.
Longer term, these 5 new projects each represent 5-digit and 6-digit volume potential.”
NEXT said its new modules are labelled NB-1011, NB-2020 and NB-3010 and are based on the same fingerprint sensor and fitted in modules tailored for various volume markets. They new modules replace the first generation NEXT modules (the NB-1010), launched in 2014.
NEXT, based in Oslo, Norway, also announced it plans to hold its Annual Shareholders Meeting on Monday June 22, 2015, at Advokatfirmaet Thommessen, Haakon VIIs gate 10, 0161 Oslo, Norway, for election of directors and other matters before shareholders.
